The Immediate Postpartum Period Pacifiers
Pacifiers
Pacifier use in the full-term newborn is associated with decreased likelihood of exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge1. This may be due to pacifier use interfering with frequent nipple stimulation and milk removal. It is recommended that pacifier use be delayed until about 3 weeks, when breastfeeding is well established.
